What Disabilities Are Protected by IDEA?
IDEA protects children who are affected by one or more disabilities that fall under a category described in IDEA and who therefore require special education and related services to make academic progress. In order for a child to fully meet the definition as a "child with a disability," a child's educational performance must be adversely affected due to the disability.
